Why did you choose this lovely summer pasta?

I’m pretty much always down for pasta. I love laid back cooking in the summer. So we (my boyfriend Luke, and I) decided to make one of our fave hot day pasta recipes, a spicy garlic lemon pasta with pancetta, kale and a bunch of fresh herbs. With red lentil noodles because they’re my faves!

Do your food habits change with the seasons?

My food habits definitely change with the seasons and temperatures. Summer means lots of salads and smoothies. Fall time means I’m making lots of soups and baking goodies. In the winter I just crave anything decadent and comforting. Spring is kind of a weird season for me, it’s such a huge transition and always kind an in-between feeling that tends to be a blur. The only thing that comes to mind about springtime and food is fiddleheads, I always get really excited for those!

Were you picky as a kid?

I definitely was not a picky eater as a kid. I loved eating, probably more than most kids. I remember being the last at the table at kids parties, just taking my sweet time to eat all the food. I also have had allergies since I was little, so my motto was, if it can’t kill me, I’m eating it.

Aesthetic is clearly important to you, is it important to your meals as well?

I would say no, my meals do not need to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Mostly because I don’t know how to make it look nice, a splash here, a dribble there, my plates always look a bit messy. I did however just figure out how to make cute looking salads by changing up my veggie placing style!

How does your garden grow?

My garden be growin! This is my first year with a garden in our new house and it’s been so exciting to watch my lil green babies do their thang. I pretty much just have a large tomato garden, I don’t know why, I just decided to plant like 8 different types of tomatoes. They're just starting to come in and I’ve been eating tomato toast every day. I also have a bunch of romaine, butter lettuce, peppers and basil. Oh and there are strawberries, that I guess I planted for the birds because they just eat them all and I haven’t even been able to try one yet!

What’s your favourite thing about your home?

I’m still discovering what my favourite thing about this home is as we just moved in a few months ago! So far I’m loving the big back windows that face south, and there is bright light all day. I’ve been enjoying the back yard and deck, and I’ve been hanging out there a lot. There’s a lot of space and it’s been so nice to fill it with friends and fam. And with the heatwave we are in right now, I’m feeling very appreciative for the air conditioning!

Tell us everything about this little doggie in the window!

This is Eevee! Eevee Cha is her full name. She is 3 years old, 15 pounds and she is a Pisces. Eevee is a very happy and curious gal. Her likes are walks, sniffs, aged white cheddar, the red ball, looking out the front window and hanging out with friends (humans). Her dislikes include being disturbed in her sleep, having her tail hairs brushed, dogs that come on too strong, and sitting in laps (unless she’s tired). Eevee is my buddy. I love Eevee!
